[Music] So what happens when a beneficiary kills the trust creator the set lor as you can imagine it's not a good thing so you shouldn't go around killing people I shouldn't have to tell you that however if you have a beneficiary who is found to have murdered the set lor under California law they are precluded from being able to inherit so their gift is essentially erased out of the trust doesn't matter if it's a will a trust joint tenancy life insurance proceeds all of those things go away if the beneficiary is found to have murdered to settle or here's the one caveat to that though it does have to be a felony conviction so that means that there are different types of homicide that might fall into the misdemeanor category a less serious crime like an accident that isn't necessarily going to disinherit the person who is guilty of that misdemeanor but anytime you have a beneficiary who is guilty of felony murder against the set lor they're gonna be out of the trust and rightly so Albertson and Davidson is here to help you fight for your inheritance check out al Dave law comm for our complete library of helpful legal videos and articles from your favorite California trusts and we'll litigation law firm Albertson and Davidson LLP.
