The Trouble of Being a Trustee

[Music] Hi this Keith Davidson at Albertson and Davidson in this video we're discussing what is a trustee a trustee really is just the manager of the trust assets and the legal world we refer to the trustee as the legal owner they're not the beneficial owner they're not the person who's going to actually receive any benefit from these assets they're not going to receive any money they're not going to receive any income or principal unless they're also named as a beneficiary but somebody who's just the trustee is there to manage the assets they have the right to decide when something is bought or sold they have the right to make investment decisions they have the right to decide when assets are distributed according to what the trust terms tell them to do that's the trustees role is to manage the assets but the trustee is not the beneficial owner they're not going to get any of the value out of that trust and so that's a short description of what a trustee is.[Music] [Applause] [Music]
