The History of Our Firm
This is the story of two attorneys with different backgrounds who met online. Keith Davidson attended Loyola Law School in Los Angles, California. He worked for a large multinational law firm (Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, LLP) straight out of law school. He then moved to the National law firm of Sonnenschein, Nath & Rosenthal, LLP (now called Dentons) before striking out on his own law practice in 2007. Stewart Albertson attended Loyola Law School in New Orleans, Louisiana, and then obtained a Masters in Laws and Letters in Taxation from Georgetown University. Stewart opened his own practice straight out of law school before joining a small Redlands law firm (Ziprick & Kramer, LLP). Keith and Stewart met through the Los Angeles County Bar email list-serve for the Trust and Estate section.
After meeting, they decided to create a law firm. Albertson & Davidson, LLP began on January 1, 2008. In the beginning, it was just the two of them, they printed their own letters, licked their own stamps, and took their own mail to the post office for mailing each day. They did not have many clients and worried about making it. Even so, they had a desire to improve, learn as much as possible, and develop a reputation for being strong, passionate advocates for their clients. They took tough cases (cases no other lawyers wanted), and made the best of them, often being able to win a victory for a client through trial or a favorable settlement. Keith and Stewart found that they could add value to nearly any case if they were creative, persistent, and aggressive in their approach—thus was born the Albertson & Davidson philosophy for handling legal cases.
Growing a Firm and Our Skills
Over time, the firm they created began to grow. Ten months into the new firm they were able to hire their first employee—a paralegal, Jennifer Fejzic who is still with the firm. And then they were able to move into a slightly bigger office, and hire another paralegal. And more clients came. With more clients came an even bigger desire to learn more, innovate their services, and fight hard for their clients. After nearly two years in business, they hired their first associate attorney. They also acquired an estate planning practice from a well-established Temecula based attorney and opened their Temecula office.
Investing in the Future
Rather than taking all the profit from the firm, Keith and Stewart reinvested in their practice. They bought better equipment, hired more professionals, and opened a bigger office in Ontario, California. They learned all they could about marketing, business management and leadership. At the same time, they continued to hone their trial skills and learn from the best trial lawyers in the State in hopes of one day joining their ranks. And indeed, Stewart did so by winning a $5.7 million jury verdict in a tragic wrongful death case.
Keith and Stewart had a vision to help as many people as they could with their unique blend of knowledge and aggressive representation. But to help more people, they needed a bigger reach with more office locations in different geographic areas throughout California.
And Then There Were Three…and Four and Five
In September of 2013, the firm grew to six attorneys total in the Ontario office. The stage was now set for an even bigger growth opportunity. In March, 2014, the firm opened the Carlsbad office with two attorneys and one paralegal—led by partner Keith Davidson. The office started slowly, but then took off with an influx of new clients. In October 2014, the firm opened the Bay Area office. In September 2015, we opened our Orange County location–led by our partner Gian Ducic-Montoya–followed by Los Angeles and San Francisco.
We Stand, We Fight, We Win
Stewart, Keith, and their team of professionals help hundreds of clients and have cases pending in nearly a dozen different California counties from Southern California to the Bay Area. Yet the founding principles of the firm remain intact: we stand, we fight, we win because we are winners at heart. We can’t win every case, but we can invest the time, energy, and enthusiasm that every case deserves and that usually leads to a positive resolution for our clients.
We believe in helping people resolve their problems, fighting hard for our clients, and being creative in our approach to every problem. We are Albertson & Davidson, LLP and we never stand still. Are you ready to join a winning team?
